Good deal, great taste, but totally bad for you. If you’re getting sick (perhaps literally) of ‘crashing’ at 10a.m., take a look at what you’re eating for breakfast. Here are a few of my favorite low calorie breakfast recipes that taste like fast food, but are actually quite good for you and very filling. Not to mention, they’re easy to prepare as you’re running out the door. To get started, let’s go over the basic ingredients of a breakfast burrito. First off, we have an 8″ whole wheat tortilla wrap. Secondly, your main filling is always going to be scrambled eggs. Personally, I only eat egg whites, but just make sure to use your favorite combination of eggs to get your morning protein quota in and keep you feeling full until lunch time! Mexican Style Breakfast Burrito
- (1) 8 inch whole wheat tortilla wrap
- 1/2 cup of scrambled eggs or egg beaters
- 1 oz of fat free shredded mexican cheese blend
- 2 tbsp of salsa (mild, medium, hot – your choice!)
Warm up your tortilla for 10 seconds in your microwave. Scramble your eggs and place them on top of the tortilla. Sprinkle your cheese of top and add your salsa. Roll up in true burrito fashion and there you go! If you must, you can bring this yummy low calorie breakfast food with you in the car.
Fast Food Style Ultimate Breakfast Burrito
This one is full of very salty flavor that hits the spot if you’re craving a fast food style breakfast. The good news is, we’re still talking low calories yet tons of explosive flavor. This low calorie breakfast idea tastes similar to a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich.
(1) 8 inch whole wheat tortilla wrap
1/2 cup of scrambled eggs or egg beaters
1 oz of fat-free shredded cheese (your choice…cheddar, mozzarella, etc.)
1/2 tsp of potato topping seasoning. (I like Bacon Chive…get creative!)
Warm your tortilla for 10 seconds in the microwave. Scramble your eggs and add the bacon chive seasoning while cooking. Sprinkle your cheese on top. Role up like you would any burrito.
