Low Calorie Banana Bread Mix – Fat-Free and Gluten Free!
27 Jul
I just discovered an amazing low calorie banana bread mix that is also organic and gluten free! I know I usually blog about recipes or easy low cal ideas, but I am such a huge fan of this low calorie banana bread mix that I had to share.
Lately, I’ve been eating mostly organic foods. I’ve also been trying to cut out gluten as I feel a lot better when I don’t eat it. Miraculously, the dark circles under my eyes that I used to spend a few minutes concealing every morning are gone. But, that’s another story…
This awesome low calorie banana bread mix is made by the company “Simply Organic” and I am in love with so many of their products. Including their gluten-free, organic, cocoa cayenne cupcakes, they’re spicy so just one is satisfying! I have yet to try their low calorie carrot cake mix, as I have my own favorite recipe that I’ve blogged about in the past.
The ingredients for this low cal banana bread are simple: 1 box of mix, 2 large eggs, 3/4 cup of water and two ripe bananas. You don’t need milk, oil, or butter, which totally cuts down on the calories. One 1/2″ slice is only 90 calories prepared! It’s so good with some low-fat cream cheese for a great breakfast treat. The texture is perfect and you’d never guess this banana bread is made from a low calorie, fat free and gluten free bread mix.
Most cake or bread mixes on the market are filled with all sorts of junk, but this mix is pretty simple: Organic brown rice flour, organic fair trade certified cane sugar, xantham gum, monocalcium phosphate, organic cinnamon, organic cornstarch, baking soda, sea salt and organic allspice.
I pay $4 and some change for one box of this banana bread mix at my local health food store, but just found a deal on Amazon.com and ordered myself 3 boxes for $12.46 and free shipping with my Amazon prime subscription. (Shipping is free is you spend more than $25 on Amazon, so stock up on low calorie items that you love and save!) When my new boxes arrive, I’m going to experiment and try making low calorie banana bread cupcakes and adding blueberries to the mix for a yummy banana blueberry mix. Yum!

There needs to be more gluten free recipes. Thanks for your efforts.
I just ordered some and can’t wait to try this! You’re so right, it is hard to find mixes that aren’t filled will nasty ingredients. I’m definitely going to try your idea of putting blueberries in the batter since they’re in season and are so good for you.
